Cafe Creative
Maurice is a part of a community of creatives, activists and social change makers known as Cafe Creative. Cafe Creative is a program of the Kheprw Institute (KI) focused on building community, supporting artists, and bringing people from all backgrounds together to expand the cultural horizons of Indianapolis.
Cafe Creative is a space for local residents and artists to express the world they envision is critical for the community. Communities of color thrive when they have access to and control of creative spaces.

Afrofuturism Fridays
Maurice is KI’s Afrofuturist in residence. Join Maurice on the Second Friday of each month from 6 to 8pm to discuss the theory and critique behind the Afrofuturism movement.
Afrofuturism is a movement of art, culture and literature that seeks to explore dilemmas faced by black people and theorize possible futures. Afrofuturism will be our framework to re-examine events of the past, critique the present day dilemmas of the African Diaspora, and create a space to imagine and dream of possible futures.

Black Arts Collective
The Black Arts Collective is made of Black artists and is supported by a larger community of creatives, activists and social change makers. The project is supported by the Kheprw Institute and Cafe Creative.
The Oaks Academy
For over 20 years, The Oaks Academy has dedicated itself to providing a rigorous education which provides a solid foundation for each student’s future. The purposeful drawing of students and families from diverse racial and socioeconomic backgrounds is core to our mission. The Oaks is a special place where we truly celebrate the differences which too often divide us. The Oaks Academy recently scored in the top 3% of all schools.
