Boxx The Artist

Boxx The Artist synthesizes expressionistic portraiture through acrylics, digital, and public art that examines the African Diaspora providing cultural images that honor a marginalized community and expresses her love for Blackness. She is an Indianapolis based full-time, visual artist practicing for 6 years, from Gary, Indiana. Boxx has featured work in several exhibitions including the Black Creativity Juried Exhibit 2022 and 2023 (Chicago Museum of Science and Industry), the 26th African American Art Exhibition (Roanna H. Victor Gallery at Actors Theatre of Louisville), and honored as a 2023 and 2024 Hoosier Women Artist by the Indiana Lt. Governor with two consecutive one-year art installations in the Indiana State House. Boxx was awarded the DeHaan Artist of Distinction Award for 2022, and recipient of the 2022 Power Plant Grant provided by Big Car Collaborative and the Andy Warhol Foundation for Arts to create an independent creative project. 
 
Boxx The Artist has served in various residencies, fellowships, apprenticeships, including serving as the 2021 Maker-In-Resident for the Ignite Studio in Fishers, Indiana; 2021 Artist and Curator for Cat Head Press Artist Residency, and was a 2021 Fellow for the Indiana Arts Commission, On Ramp Creative Entrepreneur Accelerator, and 2024 PATTERN Creative Entrepreneur Fellow & Artist-in-Residence. She has over 10 mural installations in the city of Indianapolis notably serving as an apprentice to install a 5-story civic mural for the City of Indianapolis, a permanent mural installation in the Indiana State Museum, as well as a mural for the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibit at Conner Prairie: Living History Museum. Her work has been featured in the Indianapolis International Airport, as well as several media publications such as Fox59, WishTV, WRTV, Indystar, Nuvo, Indianapolis Recorder and more. Lance C. Parker

Lance C. Parker is an Indianapolis based artist and photographer who enjoys multiple avenues of both. One of those paths led him to marry the two and create Smoke Art. His goal is to infuse the world with his artistic smoke! From a few murals in the city to a self-published book of images to 3 art shows he is on his way.

Uzuri Asad
Ijó Movement and Cultural Institute Bio 

"I want to do the most good for the most people with the life I have now” is the motto of multi-hyphenate creative and keeper of sacred movement, Uzuri Asad. She, her husband, and their five incredible children, are part of the APLR program created by Big Car Collaborative in order to create equitable housing opportunities for artists, which in turn makes space for those makers and doers in the community to focus more of their efforts on their gifts as both offering and livelihood. As an artist, Uzuri manages to dance fluidly between genres to allow her voice of innovation space to breathe and evolve. Her most recent efforts include being selected as a displaying visual artist for WE ARE INDY ARTS at Indiana Landmarks in 2023, in addition to an upcoming third season as part of the historic “Women of Color '' exhibition hosted annually at the Indianapolis Public Library’s Central Branch. She has also choreographed for and performed with her recently established African dance company, Ijo Movement and Cultural Institute, at the annual Umoja Festival in Indianapolis, as well as poetry features for both Spark on the Circle in 2023 and VOCAB Indy in 2024.  
 
Ijó Movement and Cultural Institute Bio  

Founded in early 2023, Ijó Movement and Cultural Institute, was created out of a necessity for intentional conservation of the cultural wealth of our community as it relates to traditional African drum and dance from various regions across the continent and throughout the Diaspora. Through educational performances and workshops as well public dance classes, Ijó aims to secure the history and traditions of drum and dance as a pivotal part of the foundation of Indianapolis cultural community.

Rebecca Berry

Rebecca’s passion lies in healing the mind-body connection for those coping with trauma, anxiety, and depression. With a style that’s equal parts therapeutic and soothing, Rebecca believes in the healing power of touch to help those who struggle to feel at home in their bodies. Using slow, intentional movement, Rebecca often incorporates warm bamboo and gentle stretching into her massage to offer a space to at once feel safe, feel good, and reset your nervous system.
